DAVID VINCENT Says I AM MORBID Is 'A Much Different Vehicle' From MORBID ANGEL

Former MORBID ANGEL frontman David Vincent has spoken to Zero Tolerance about his decision to join forces with ex-MORBID ANGEL drummer Tim Yeung and guitarists Bill Hudson (CIRCLE II CIRCLE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) and Ira Black (METAL CHURCH, LIZZY BORDEN) to perform classic MORBID ANGEL songs under the I AM MORBID banner. The new band, which will play material from MORBID ANGEL's "Altars Of Madness" (1989), "Blessed Are The Sick" (1991), "Covenant" (1993) and "Domination" (1995) albums, has scheduled two shows in Brazil this spring: March 24 in Belo Horizonte and March 25 in São Paulo. Additional dates will be announced soon. "This is certainly something that has been on my mind for some time now and, truthfully, even prior to Trey [Azagthoth, MORBID ANGEL guitarist] and I parting ways again," David told Zero Tolerance. "When the news of our separation became public last year, I was literally bombarded with all manner of requests from around the globe. This is the first instalment of a very busy new year." Despite the fact that I AM MORBID's setlist will focus entirely on MORBID ANGEL's classic material, Vincent insists that his new project is very much its own animal. "This is a much different 'vehicle,'" he said. "Apart from my personal provenance and legacy, this is a separate entity altogether." Vincent talked about Hudson and Black in glowing terms, saying: "The guitarists are longtime friends and associates and I'm very much looking forward to performing with both of them. Each has his own playing style and in the case of Bill Hudson, he and I have written together on and off for a few years now." Vincent also confirmed that fans can expect I AM MORBID to perform some classic MORBID ANGEL tunes which haven't been played for in a long time. "Absolutely, and I'm looking forward to it," he said. "As new pages in the story of a band are being written, it is inevitable that some songs are replaced in a setlist and fans always ask about them. Many of these will have a new life and a new interpretation." MORBID ANGEL's controversial 2011 album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", marked the group's first CD to feature Vincent since "Domination". The band is currently recording a new studio album with a lineup that includes Steve Tucker on bass/vocals, Scott Fuller (ANNIHILATED, ERRORGEIST) on drums, and Dan Vadim Von (guitarist/frontman of the American death metal group VADIMVON) on second guitar. Vincent will release a single with his new country project later in the year and says he will be "making a few special appearances with various musical acts" in the coming months. davidvincenttimyeungsolo_638 iammorbidposter2017_638
