BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE Got A 'Superstar' Deal From SPINEFARM, Says Guitarist

Scratch Radio's "Louder" show conducted an interview with guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget of Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE on December 6 in Birmingham, England. You can now listen to the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). On BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's decision to sign a worldwide deal with Search And Destroy/Spinefarm after being on RCA: Padge: "We thought a lot about all our options. We thought, 'Do we re-sign with a major [label]?' 'Do we go out on our own?' But we just had to wait for all the offers and the deals to come in, and, apparently, we got a superstar deal from Spinefarm, so that's very rare. And our lawyer says he very rarely sees offers like that, so he suggests that we take it. So we thought about it, and we took it." On BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's plans for a new studio album: Padge: "Nothing as of yet. We finish off this year with [performing the entire debut album, 2005's] 'The Poison' [on a U.K. tour] and this new song ['Don't Need You', which was released in November]. And that was just kind of to bridge the gap and build some momentum for this tour. It's done amazingly well, actually. It's had about four and a half million views already, which is crazy. But no, after this tour is done, we want a break. We need a break, and then we'll start thinking about writing a record." On whether BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's latest addition, bassist Jamie Mathias, is pushing for the band to go into the studio, since he has yet to appear on a full-length record from the band: Padge: "No, he's not pushing yet. I think we're all just really tired. We wanna go home and see our families and kids and friends and stuff. But eventually, once we're all rested up and have a nice break, we'll start chomping at the bit and start writing and getting ideas down and just compile everything and just see where we go from there." The "Don't Need You" video was filmed in a church by director Ville Juurikkala, who has previously worked with NIGHTWISH, AMORPHIS, HIM, APOCALYPTICA and MICHAEL MONROE, among others. BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas took a temporary leave of absence from the band last year to spend time with his wife, as they awaited the birth of his first child. He was replaced on the road by Jason Bowld (PITCHSHIFTER, AXEWOUND).
