MEGADETH mainman
Dave Mustaine has recorded a guest solo for the forthcoming album from
BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by hip-hop legend, actor and director
Ice-T. Titled
"Bloodlust", the disc is tentatively due in March via
Century Media. After
Ice-T tweeted that
Mustaine "killed it" with his contribution to the album,
Mustaine tweeted back: "I had to. The song is badass! Glad you dig it! By far my fave guest appearance. Thanks again!!"
"Bloodlust" is also expected to include a guest appearance from former
SEPULTURA and current
SOULFLY frontman
Max Cavalera on the song
"All Love Is Lost". Other titles set to appear on the effort include
"No Lives Matter",
"This Is Why We Ride" and
"The Purge".
Mustaine told
Metal Hammer magazine last year that
MEGADETH will tour the world with
BODY COUNT in 2017. The
MEGADETH leader said that, while he is not a hip-hop fan, he is an admirer of
Ice-T and that he can't wait to share the stage later this year. "We're talking about a very large tour next summer with five bands on it with us,"
Mustaine said. "It's going to be more of a guest appearance than a direct support kind of thing. "We've been looking at a lot of interesting acts, but for me I don't always try and pick out the flavor of the month — I have loyalty to my friends. "I always thought that
BODY COUNT, while if not for everybody, I thought it was great. It's not your normal metal band. It's cool to see somebody crossing over from the hip-hop world into the metal world. I think it's great to be open-minded about different people from different backgrounds."
BODY COUNT's follow-up to 2014's
"Manslaughter" was recorded with producer
Will Putney (
MISS MAY I,
UPON A BURNING BODY), who also helmed the band's last effort.
